In FF8 chocobos continue to play a big role in the game, they are basically still only used for transport but add a light hearted side to the game play. In FFVIII there is not a gardian force using chocobos but they are used in the brand new peripheral for the PSX, the Pocket Playstation. In this game you play a game similar to what you would play of that of a tamagotchi. You feed him and take care of him.
